According to a copy of her forthcoming book, obtained by the Associated Press, Gabrielle Giffords intends to take up her seat again in the House of Representatives: "I will get stronger. I will return."

According to the AP, the book—which Giffords co-wrote with her husband Mark Kelly—recounts Giffords' 10-month rehabilitation, from her panic at realizing that she'd lost the ability to talk to her grief at learning, six months after the shooting, that six others had been killed. She has regained her speech, in part through practicing reciting the U.S. Constitution and Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I Have a Dream" speech.

At one point in her rehabilitation, the only word she could say was "chicken"; she kept repeating it during a visit from former President George H.W. Bush. Later, when doctors were testing her ability to recognize faces, she responded to being shown a photograph of Arnold Schwarzenegger by saying: "Messin' around. Babies."
