Think you've got what it takes to be a live-blogging star? Then you should join the stellar bunch of commenters who gather here each week to live-blog Project Runway All-Stars. All you need is a little wit and perspicacity, a Gawker commenting account, and a dream.

Actually, I'm not even sure that you need perspicacity, because I'm not 100% certain what that word means. But I do know you need a TV and a computer. Here's all you have to do to participate, if you haven't joined us before: Turn on your TV, watch the show (which airs on Lifetime at 9 Eastern), and post witty quips and observations about what you see it in the comments section below this post. The rest of us will be doing the same. To get a feel for how it works, you may want to check out this selection of a few of my favorite comments from last week's live blog.

To help kick-start the discussion tonight, I've decided to do something a little different in this post, by sharing a ranking I created based on the prior-season performance of all 13 "all star" designers. This ranking is based on a scoring rubric I've modestly named the HippityScore, so that historians centuries from now will give me due credit for it in the annals of reality-TV history. I won't bore you with the details of the formula involved, other than to mention that it considers the following prior-season factors for each designer: number of wins, number of second- and third-place finishes; number of bottom 3 finishes; and total number of episodes they appeared in. The higher the HippityScore, the better they performed. Here are the results:

  • Mondo Guerra: 1.50
  • Jerell Scott: 0.85
  • Kenley Collins: 0.71
  • Rami Kashou: 0.50
  • Austin Scarlett: 0.44
  • Michael Costello: 0.31
  • Mila Hermanovski: 0.29
  • Anthony Williams: 0.25
  • April Johnston: 0.25
  • Gordana Gehlhausen: 0.08
  • Kara Janx: 0.00
  • Sweet P: -0.09
  • Elisa Jimenez: -0.33

Note that these numbers are relative, in that they consider only how well the designers did against the other competitors from their respective seasons—so take them with that pinch of salt. I also want to point out that this listing doesn't amount to a "spoiler," in case anyone's worried about that, since I used only information that everyone already knows—that is, I haven't read or considered any actual alleged spoilers that may be floating around out there about the current season. (If you've heard such spoilers, please don't discuss them in this live blog!) I just thought this might provide some fun fodder for discussions about who we think is stronger or weaker than whom, whether these numbers contradict any preconceived notions we had about that, et cetera, and so on, and scooby dooby doo-bee.

Before we get started tonight, I'd also like to quickly mention a few upcoming highlights gleaned from the preview clips that Lifetime has aired so far. These clips reveal very little about tonight's episode per se, but they do provide some interesting glimpses of things that will happen over the course of the coming season—for example:

  • Many designers will cry. So let's be sure to revive our drinking-game rule of drinking whenever a designer cries, so we can turn their pain into our gain!
  • Austin Scarlet will get into some kind of bitchy verbal smackdown with Isaac Mizrahi. So we'll have to have some popcorn ready to munch when that little drama unfolds, won't we?
  • Miss Piggy will be a judge. My past experience with muppet-judging—thanks to Top Chef—has taught me that there are two types of people in this world: Those who think muppet judges are a good thing, and those who think they're a bad thing. I happen to belong to the latter camp, but if you belong to the former, it's OK—we can still be friends. Although I think you are crazy.

Ok, that's enough discussion-fodder and flash-forwarding and whatnot. The show will start soon, so it's time to head down to the comments. I'll see you there!
