The Washington Post reports that Arlington National Cemetery is having a tiny problem-no big deal, nothing to worry about-locating $12 million dollars that was allocated to it between 2004 and 2010.

A Senate hearing held Wednesday to examine the issue turned up few answers. No documentation detailing the location of the funds. No explanation of how such a huge amount (about a quarter of the cemetery's annual budget) could have gone missing without anyone noticing.

"It's not clear if it was returned, if it was spent or where it is. I don't think there is any indication of people walking out with it. I think this is incompetence . . .gross incompetence."

said Senator Claire McCaskill, who chaired the hearing.

The Post article offers more details about the series of book-keeping scandals that has recently plagued the cemetery. The list is, frankly, baffling in both number and scope.

In any case: a missing fortune? A cemetery setting? Time to call in Scooby and the gang.
