Republican National Committee chairman Reince Priebus said something that many would interpret as sort of insane on television yesterday, comparing President Obama to the Italian cruise ship captain Francesco Schettino, who ran away like a little pussy while all those people on his boat were dying.

"In the end, in a few months," Priebus said, "this is all going to be ancient history and we're going to talk about our own little Captain Schettino, which is President Obama who is abandoning the ship here in the United States." Hey now. Running a cruise ship aground and running away is one of the bad things Obama hasn't done yet, as president. "He's more interested in campaigning than doing his job as president." Oh, he means it like a metaphor.

Priebus' counterpart at the DNC, Debbie Wasserman Schulz, whose job is to listen to everything every Republican says and then roll her eyes and say "unbelievable," has called Priebus' comparison "unbelievable."
