Woody Harrelson Lets Reddit Ask Him Anything, Is Asked About Taking High School Girl's Virginity
Woody Harrelson experienced what is known on the internet as a 'fail' on Friday, when he hosted an "Ask Me Anything" (AMA) thread on the social news site Reddit. He was promptly asked if he remembered taking some random high school girl's virginity.
Harrelson had intended to use the AMA to promote his new film, Rampart. But, as we know—from personal experience, even!—things rarely go according to plan when dealing with the fickle swarm of Reddit.
Here was the most popular question asked of Woody Harrelson by user AndyRooney, and the first one he answered:
I swear this is a true story. I went to a high school in LA and you crashed our prom after party (Universal Hilton). You ended up taking the virginity of a girl named Roseanna. You didn't call her afterwards. She cried a lot. Do you remember any of this and can confirm or have you been so knee deep in hollywood pooty for so long that this qualifies as a mere blip?
Harrelson denied the story:
First of off, its not true, and second off, I don't want to answer questions about that. Lets focus on the film people.
Things didn't improve after that, as you might imagine. Harrelson barely answered any other questions, and the ones he did were blatant plugs for Rampart.
After Harrelson fled his own Q&A, Reddit erupted in a crowd-sourced snicker as insufferable as his non-answers. They flooded the site with dozens of posts, .gifs and image macros mocking Harrelson. Even Reddit founder Alexis Ohanian declared Woody Harrelson's AMA an "epic fail."
Clueless celebrities being chewed up and spit out by the Reddit hive should be an endless source of entertainment in the future. As Reddit continues to project obscene amounts of power, and is pumped up as the "web's unstoppable force" by bedazzled tech writers, a Reddit AMA will probably become a regular stop on the social media PR tour. Except Reddit has the patience and sensibilities of a 14-year-old boy hopped up on a case of Monster Energy Drink. Snot-nosed Redditors come up with excellent, in-depth questions that wouldn't be asked at a typical press junket—and just as many mortifying questions about sexual encounters. It's "Fresh Air" meets "Beavis & Butthead."
