The Hunger Games dominated the box office this weekend — the fourth in a row — but there is serious competition on the horizon. All-star superhero flick The Avengers opens May 4, with a good chance of making big money. Of course, this is America, and we love stories of two brothers facing off against one another. So, hey, let's make this about Liam Hemsworth vs. Chris Hemsworth.

Two brothers. Lots of dirty blonde hair. Four piercing blue eyes. Their only weakness was each other (and sometimes Miley Cyrus).

Liam Hemsworth, 22, plays Gale in The Hunger Games, while brother Chris Hemsworth, 28, plays Thor in The Avengers. (Chris also played Thor in Thor.) By all accounts, the two get along, but it's always fun to drum up a little sibling rivalry, right?

At a press conference for The Avengers, Robert Downey, Jr. cheekily asked about Liam's box office success. Side note: Robert Downey, Jr. has never not asked a question cheekily.

Don't you feel that Liam is trying to take over your box office universe? Doesn't he need to be corrected in some way?

To which Chris replied, "There's a special race at the box office."

Oh, shit. The gauntlet has been thrown. And while Liam showed up to hang out with his brother a few hours after the press conference, there is obviously a heated competition going on between them. Or not. Either way, The Hunger Games will continue to make lots of money, and The Avengers should easily take its opening weekend.

Meanwhile, let's work on a movie that pits the two brothers against one another — like The Fighter, but with actual, real-life siblings. Or just film a sweaty, two-hour training montage: box offie history will be made regardless.
