Pop rocking life coach Adam Levine has been tapped to play "a sexy guy," on Season 2 of American Horror Story, according to show creator Ryan Murphy.

But don't try to put this guy into a sexy little box; Murphy says that Levine's character (one half of a straight couple called "The Lovers'"– fingers crossed his lady friend is portrayed by Avril Lavigne) is "different" than the guy you're thinking of.

He's not like those other guys, girl.

"He's a sexy guy so he needs to play a sexy guy, but the guy that is different than who you think he would play."

So he…won't be a sexy guy?

Okay, no, he will.

BUT DIFFERENT.

Murphy also revealed today that the second season of Horror Story will be set in "a completely different time period" than Season 1. (Cretaceous?) The action will take place at an East Coast institution for the criminally insane, run by Jessica Lange's character.

Lange, along with Zachary Quinto, Evan Peters (Tate), Lily Rabe (crazy surgeon's wife/basement abortion impresario), and Sarah Paulson (annoying whispery psychic) will be portraying all new characters in season two of the show.

Also joining the cast of American Pie Story: A French actress known abroad for her frequent appearances in NC-17-rated indie films.

But back to the sexy guy who is not what we'd expect.

Here's Murphy's story of how Levine accepted his role:

"I pitched him the part and he listened, slack jawed, and simply said, ‘I'm in.'"

The crazy thing is, Levine didn't even know he was talking to Ryan Murphy until he pivoted around in his office chair to face him. He just said he was in because he was worried Cee Lo Green or Christina Aguilera might say it first.

Fate.
