The Belgian-Australian multi-instrumentalist told The Sunday Mail he thought the Glee cover of "Somebody That I Used To Know," performed by Darren Criss and guest star Matt Bomer, sounded like "it's playing to you from a cardboard box."

Gotye (AKA Wally de Backer) blamed the botched rendition on the vocals, which he felt were "ultra-dry" and "sounded pretty tuned and the rock has no real sense."

He did have something nice to say about the instrumentals: "They did such a faithful arrangement of the instrumentals," Gotye said, before adding, "but the vocals were that pop Glee style...It made it sound dinky and wrong."

"Somebody That I Used To Know" recently topped Billboard's Hot 100 chart after spending 15 weeks ascending towards the number 1 spot.
