First Look: Andre 3000 as Jimi Hendrix in Controversial Biopic All Is by My Side
Man-of-many-hats André Benjamin (stage name: André 3000) is donning a wig this time to portray iconic guitarist Jimi Hendrix in an upcoming biopic penned by Red Tails screenwriter John Ridley.
According to the official announcement released earlier this month, All Is by My Side "is based on interviews and archival materials and "captures the energy, the charisma, [and] the mind-boggling talent of a legend whose musical influence still resonates around the world today."
The Hendrix estate swiftly released its own statement, saying it was opposed to any biopics "undertaken without its full participation."
It appears, however, that All Is by My Side is moving forward, as Benjamin was recently spotted on the film's set in full Hendrix regalia.
