In Case You Were Wondering, This Is What Happens When You Chuck a Bag of Trash Into a Lake Made of Lava
As part of an experiment to determine if a human being thrown into a lava lake would sink or float (??), a team of super-serious science guys tossed a 66lb. bag full of organic trash from approximately 260 feet up straight into the basaltic lava lake of Ethiopia's Erta Ale shield volcano.
The video shows that falling from a height, a person would be able to penetrate the crust of the lake and submerge in it [...] The lake reacts with violent lava fountaining activity, presumably in part due to steam produced from the organic matter.
