Rumored to be in development for some time now, it seems the long-awaited second sequel to Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure will finally see the light of a movie-theater projector in the very near (though not near enough) future.

Vulture is reporting exclusively this morning that Bill & Ted stars Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves are both attached to the project, which is being penned by the franchise's creators, Ed Solomon and Chris Matheson.

Academy Award-winning director Dean Parisot is expected to be at the helm of Bill & Ted 3, but which studio will back the film remains to be seen. Vulture says that, though MGM owns Bill & Ted, the threequel is being shopped around.

Last we heard, the plot of the movie revolved around Bill and Ted "writing a song that saves the world," and could involve a visit to the prehistoric era, as well as cameos by characters from the previous films.

Despite the excellent news, there's no word yet on a possible timeline.
