It shares a general partner with the Bain Capital Fund IX, LP, and is, according to its audited financial statements, designed to "invest...in certain transactions concurrently with Bain Capital Fund IX LP." As of 2009, it held $991 million in assets and reported a $253 million increase in capital for the year.

In 2010, the Ann D. Romney Blind Trust held between $1,000 and $15,000 of, and earned zero from, the coinvestment fund, according to disclosures. In 2006, the Ann Romney Trust held between $1,000 and $15,000 of, and earned zero from, the coinvestment fund.
