Viking Global Equities LP is one of several hedge funds held by Goldman Sachs Hedge Fund Partners LLC, Goldman Sachs Hedge Fund Partners II LLC, and Goldman Sachs Hedge Fund Partners III LLC—all of which are "funds of funds" in which the Romneys have invested. As of 2010, Viking Global Equities LP held $6.8 billion in capital and reported a net increase in capital of $168 million for the year.

Both the Ann D. Romney Blind Trust and the Ann and Mitt Romney 1995 Family Trust record income from various Goldman Sachs Hedge Fund Partners entities on their 2010 returns. In 2011, the Ann Romney Trust held more than $1 million in Goldman Sachs Hedge Fund Partners LLC, and earned between $2,500 and $5,000. It also held more that $1 million in Goldman Sachs Hedge Fund Partners II LLC, and earned between $5,000 and $15,000. In 2006, the Ann Romney Trust held more than $1 million in Goldman Sachs Hedge Fund Partners LLC, and earned between $100,000 and $1 million. It also held more that $1 million in Goldman Sachs Hedge Fund Partners II LLC, and earned between $100,000 and $1 million.
