Report: Fumes from Burning American Flags Kill Pakistani Protester
Thousands of protesters gathered on Sunday in Lahore to protest the anti-Islam movie that has stirred the entire region.
According to Pakistan's Express Tribune, one protester, Abdullah Ismail, was rushed to a local hopital after he became ill from inhaling the smoke of burning American flags set on fire during the rally.
He later passed away, though an exact cause of death was not released.
Innocence of Muslims, a low-budget, American-made movie critical of Islam and the Prophet Muhammad, has riled many across the Middle East and South Asia. In Pakistan, protesters attacked the film, saying it was a Zionist production backed by the United States.
But an investigation into the film's origins reveled it was actually produced by Egyptian-born Coptic Christian Nakoula Basseley Nakoula — a convicted charlatan who used the pseudonym Sam Bacile and misrepresented himself to the press as an Israeli-American.
