West Wing Cast Comes Together to Film Campaign Ad for Michigan Supreme Court Candidate
Some campaign ads are clearly better than others.
For instance, the latest one for Michigan Supreme Court candidate Bridget Mary McCormack is essentially a four-minute webisode of The West Wing.
Nearly all former cast members of Aaron Sorkin's critically acclaimed political drama reunited recently to film a very special endorsement of the candidate — who also happens to be the sister of actress Mary McCormack, better known as Deputy National Security Adviser Kate Harper from the show's final three seasons.
Mlive has the details on how it all went down:
Mary McCormack suggested the idea after Bridget told her the biggest problem in the race is the drop-off in voter participation.
"It sort of snowballed and all of sudden Martin Sheen signed up and I was like 'Whoa,'" Bridget McCormack said in an interview.
She said while she would be thrilled if people vote for her after seeing the video, the intent also is to get more people voting in high court elections in general regardless of their political leanings. Her campaign is hoping the video goes viral online.
You know what? I have a feeling it just might.
