On last night's episode of The Daily Show, after recapping former CIA director David Petraeus's "spyfall" from grace and expressing disappointment at the scandal's lack of, well, scandal, host Jon Stewart got down to brass tacks: Namely, his own failure to figure out that something was going on between Petraeus and Paula Broadwell during his now-infamous interview with the disgraced biographer.

"The fucking thing never cross my minds," Stewart admonished himself after airing an innuendo-laden clip from the January sit-down/push-up. "I am the worst journalist in the world. For God's sake, the title of her book was All In. She may as well have called the book What's Got Two Thumbs and Is Banging His Biographer? This guy."

After being sufficiently hard on himself for missing the year's biggest scoop, Stewart turned his attention to other losers, like Newt Gingrich, the Today Show's "affair expert," and a veritable cavalcade of conservative pundits who tried to weave wild conspiracy theories into an otherwise mundane impropriety.
