Kink Comes to Harvard as Student Group for BDSM Lovers Gains Formal Recognition
A Harvard student club that has been meeting stealthily for over a year to discuss matters of bondage and discipline is set to receive formal recognition form the university's Committee on Student Life according to The Crimson.
Harvard College Munch boasts as many as 30 active members whose sexual preferences range from dom to sub. In a Crimson exposé published earlier this year, members spoke freely of rape fantasies and force feeding. (It's a must-read, if only for such quotes as "when you tell me I'm a whore, what you're really saying is I love you.")
The organization has been forced to hold its kinky sex forums in out-of-the-way dinning halls, but approval from the university means members will eligible for DAPA food grants and can encourage recruitment through public announcements.
"It's a little hyperbolic for me to get teary-eyed and paternal about sophomores, but it's really a joy to see the experience they will have now," Munch founder Michael (not his real name) told The Crimson.
Michael, by the by, is a dom who enjoys "punishing his partner."
"If you come to campus and you have the sexual interests we represent, you may not even suspect that such a group exists," he said. "[Our recognition] shows we are being taken seriously."
The approval workshop is scheduled to take place tomorrow. A comic club and an undergraduate math group will be joining Munch in gaining recognition.
