After spending the better part of the last few days trying to bait NRA members to come on his show to argue their position in a post-Newtown world, Piers Morgan ultimately had to settle for the next best thing.

On last night's show, Morgan interviewed Larry Pratt, executive director of Gun Owners of America, a gun lobbying firm that often criticizes the NRA for being too lenient.

Obviously, Morgan was just looking for someone to unload his pent-up anger on, which is understandable, but after Pratt reasoned that gun laws would prevent "good guys" from being able to defend themselves, Morgan really lets loose, calling Pratt an "unbelievably stupid man." (The exchange starts around the 4-minute mark.)

PRATT: It seems to me that you're morally obtuse. You seem to prefer being a victim to being able to prevail over the criminal element. And I don't know why you want to be the criminal's friend.

MORGAN: What a ridiculous argument. You have absolutely no coherent argument whatsoever. You don't give a damn, do you, about the gun murder rate in America? You don't actually care.

Later, on Twitter, Piers Morgan was "still seething":
