Six Arrested After Another Gruesome Gang-Rape Reported in India
Just one month after a similar attack ended in tragedy, police in India arrested six men after they allegedly gang-raped a woman aboard a bus in India. The attack occurred Friday night as the 29-year-old victim was traveling to her home village in the Gurdaspur district in Punjab.
According to CNN, the bus's driver refused to stop at the women's village, instead taking her to an undisclosed location. Once there, the driver, his "helper" and five other men raped her repeatedly throughout the night. The next morning, the suspects took the victim to her village, where she reported the incident to relatives.
"They threatened me with a sharp edged weapon and did wrong things with me," the victim told CNN's sister station, CNN-IBN. "They kept me confined all through the night and forced me to do what they want."
Police are still looking for the seventh suspect. A similar attack took place last month, when a 23-year-old was brutally raped by six men while on a bus in South Delhi. That attack lasted for over an hour; at one point, the men reportedly inserted an iron rod into her body. The victim died from her injuries two weeks later.
