Gravely Wounded Soldier Asks Hero Medic to Show Him Her Boobs In Lieu of Morphine
A heroic British Army medic who received a medal for her bravery last week recalled the harrowing experience that led to her Mention in Despatches — and the desperate plea for a peek at her boobs that came with it.
While stationed in Afghanistan, Private Emily Tomkins of 4 Medical Regiment was called to treat a fellow soldier who had had both of his legs torn off by an explosive device.
A single shot of morphine did little to numb the man's pain, but Tomkins told the unidentified "squaddie" she would not be able to administer an additional shot without risking adverse effects.
"Well do something useful and show me your boobs," she recalled the soldier saying.
Brushing off his request, Tomkins proceeded to carry the injured wounded soldier to safety and is credited with saving his life.
"I was just doing my job," she said.
