A suspected outbreak of Ebola in West Africa has killed at least 78 people and infected 122 more. The vast majority of the cases are in Guinea, though two deaths have been reported in Sierra Leone and one in Liberia.

Doctors Without Borders announced the disease on Monday, calling it an "unprecedented outbreak."

"We are facing an epidemic of a magnitude never before seen in terms of the distribution of cases in the country," Mariano Lugli, a Doctors Without Borders coordinator in Conakry said in a statement. "This geographical spread is worrisome, because it will greatly complicate the tasks of the organizations working to control the epidemic."

According to the World Health Organization, only 24 of the cases—22 in Guinea and two in Liberia— have been lab-confirmed as Ebola.
