Sen. Rand Paul officially announced his candidacy for president this morning in a statement on his webpage. “I am running for president to return our country to the principles of liberty and limited government,” he wrote.

Paul, who has no chance of winning, is the second Republican to declare himself a candidate, following Sen. Ted Cruz who announced his run in front of an arena full of morons last month. Approximately 500 other Republicans—including Scott Walker, Jeb Bush, and Marco Rubio—are expected to announce their candidacies in the coming weeks.
