A Manhattan-bound F train derailed in Queens on Friday morning, injuring 19 people—four four of them seriously—and trapping 1,000 below ground.

MTA officials said six of the cars eight cars came off the tracks.

"You could just feel yourself coming off your seat," a witness told the New York Daily News. "I was sideways at one point. Then the conductor came over the speakers to say it derailed."

The FDNY rescued hundreds of passengers through sidewalk grates near Broadway and 60th Street in Woodside, according the the FDNY. The rescue took more than an hour to complete.
