BAFTA Names Movie About Space Starring 2 Americans "Best British Film"
The BAFTA Film Awards, which are currently underway at the Royal Opera House in London, has given Gravity six out of its eleven nominated awards already, mysteriously one of which is for Outstanding British Film. Winners receive a peeled-off graft of Shakespeare's skin dipped in bronze, and are then play-knighted with it by Prince William, the actual president of BAFTA.
In addition to Gravity's win, David O. Russell has taken home Best Original Screenplay for American Hustle, and everyone's favorite junior varsity field hockey player, Jennifer Lawrence, received a Shakespeare skin for Best Supporting Actress in the same film. The winners are being unveiled in real time on Prince William's Tumblr, and certain Stephen Fry jokes are being shared through Twitter.
