Imagine driving down the street on a lovely Saturday afternoon when you look over and there, standing on the side of the road, is a man dressed as a banana, holding an AK-47 with a 50-round magazine attached.

That's just what motorists in Beaumont, Texas saw this weekend. Naturally, concerned citizens called the 911. Police arrived and detained the man, who—surprise, surprise—was promoting the opening of a nearby gun shop.

Because Texas is Texas, police let the guy go with only citation for soliciting near a roadway. Derek Poe, the owner of the store, was not charged, though in December he was cited for disorderly conduct for carrying an assault rifle through a mall.
