Bat With Rabies Attacks and Bites Man Jamming in Forest With His Buds
Derrick Skou went camping with some of his buddies last weekend at Pinhead Creek in Clackamas County, Ore. They were just sitting around, playing some tunes when a bat swooped in, landed on Skou's chest, crawled up to his neck, and bit him. "Holy shit!" you hear one of his friends say. "That was a new one!!!"
"It was like a cold dog nose," Skou told KOMO. "It was a cold bat nose, mouth, whatever. It didn't sting. I wasn't injected with anything. It was just a cold bite."
After being attacked, Skou's friends apparently shot and killed the bat with a BB gun. They brought the body to the Multnomah County Health Department, the Oregonian reports, which found the bat to have rabies. Skou will have to receive a series of shots to prevent infection.
