BBC Reporter Not Thrilled About Being Forced to Cover Royal Baby ‘News’
Though the Duchess of Cambridge has officially gone into labor, no big news is expected before tomorrow morning, leaving the throng of reporters stationed outside the St Mary's Lindo Wing to report on absolutely nothing but baseless speculation for the rest of the day.
For some tabloid stringers this is all in a day's work. But for veteran newsman Simon McCoy, this is torture plain and simple — and he isn't shy about expressing that fact.
"Plenty more to come from here of course," the BBC newsreader told viewers, before quickly adding, "none of it news." "But that won't stop us," he continued, "we'll see you later."
In the follow up segment, McCoy read aloud comments from viewers who called the BBC's royal baby reporting "a load of sycophantic rubbish."
McCoy's shocking candor led some to wonder if his reporting wasn't, by chance, a spoof.
