Boy Scout Dies After Shooting Himself in Head at San Diego Camp
An 11-year-old at Boy Scout camp in San Diego was shot in the head this morning, and was alive as of 7:49 a.m., NBC reports. Officials said the wound was self-inflicted.
The camp, at Fiesta Island park, does not include guns. San Diego police said the weapon used in the shooting was removed from the premises.
A group of scouts were gathered for an announcement at the camp around 9 a.m. We'll update when more information becomes available.
UPDATE: The child was pronounced dead on the scene, according to NBC. Police are interviewing supervisors, including the boy's father.
