A group of devoted Breaking Bad fans held a funeral for lead character Walter White yesterday, complete with a real headstone and taking place in a very real cemetery.

The charity event, which also raise nearly $17,000 for Albuquerque’s Healthcare for the Homeless, helped fans come to grips with the aching loneliness of their now pointless Sunday evenings. A hearse, followed by a beaten-up white RV led the procession through Albuquerque to a cemetery, where an empty coffin was placed in a real gravesite.

“It brought people into Albuquerque, it brought attention into Albuquerque, and it brought money into Albuquerque,” fan Susan Tyr-Connail told KOB Eyewitness News.

But not everyone is so comfortable with the fake funeral.

“My son is buried about 15 yards from where the makeshift gravesite is,” Manuel Montano told reporters. For now though, the graveyard says the headstone and gravesite will remain in place.
