Church Champions Nude Worship Because “Jesus Was Born Naked”
If you're bored with regular church service and feel like your relationship with Christ could use more middle-aged naked people, we have some good news: A church in Virginia has decided to encourage nude prayer.
Pastor Allen Parker allowed nude worship at White Tail Chapel in Ivor, Virginia after deciding that the clothing requirements at other churches were "pretentious." There's also the fact that a certain Savior was born and killed while nude.
'When he [Jesus] was born he was naked, when he was crucified he was naked and when he arose he left his clothes in the tomb and he was naked," he told CBS 12. "If God made us that way, how can that be wrong."
Parker also said nude worship about being vulnerable and "baring his soul to Christ and leading his flock down that path of righteousness, no matter what they're wearing."
"There's not a feeling that you have to be better than one another, physically. We're humans, we have scars, we have what we have…it's learning to love and accept that," he told WWBT.
Despite the chilly winter weather, there are several regular congregants at the church, including the appropriately named Katie and Robert Church. For the Churches, White Tail's nudity policy creates a feeling of equality. "There are people that have great means, great wealth, there's people that don't. But, you wouldn't know, and everybody treats everybody, you know, equally."
