Columbia Raised Sexual Violence Awareness in the Weirdest Way

Columbia University continued to do no favors for feminism on Wednesday when the school marked the final days of Sexual Assault Awareness Month by serving students the above cheery cake.
This tweet, which was spotted by The Wire's Allie Jones, was posted just a day before a press release announced that a group of 23 Columbia and Barnard students have filed complaint for Title II, Title IX, and Clery Act violations at both schools. Among the violations?
Survivors and alleged perpetrators are consistently treated unequally;
Survivors are often discouraged from formally reporting;
Perpetrators, who are often serial offenders, are consistently allowed to remain on campus.
Way to celebrate, Columbia. The ever-so-romantic sexual violence cake was removed about an hour after the initial tweet.
