A former bartender at John Boehner's country club was indicted last week after he allegedly admitted he was planning to murder the politician.

Michael Robert Hoyt, known to members of the Wetherington Country Club as "Bartender Mike," apparently suffered from a psychotic illness that had caused him to be hospitalized two years ago. He allegedly began making plans to confront the Speaker of the House in October, when the country club fired him over his "bad attitude," which had drawn complaints from members.

A few weeks later, he emailed Boehner's wife and called local police about his plans, noting that he had repeatedly restrained himself from poisoning the politician's wine. Via the New York Times:

Mr. Hoyt told the authorities in an interview that he "did not have time to put something in John Boehner's drink" before he was fired.

"Hoyt advised that he often poured drinks for Boehner and could have already put something in his drink, but he did not," the documents say. "Hoyt stated that no one checks the drinks he poured for Boehner, and it would have been very easy to slip something into his drink."

Mr. Hoyt told the police that "he was Jesus Christ and that he was going to kill Boehner because Boehner was mean to him at the country club and because Boehner is responsible for Ebola," according to the documents.

Mr. Hoyt also told the authorities that he had a loaded handgun that he was going to use "to shoot Boehner and take off."

United States Capitol Police Special Agent Christopher M. Desrosiers told WCPO that Hoyt blamed Boehner for his termination from the club.

"Hoyt was visibly upset talking about being fired and about the circumstances surrounding it," Desrosiers said. "He believes John Boehner and other members of the country club got him fired."

Cops reportedly found guns, ammunition and writings about "John Boehner" and "Ebola," in Hoyt's home.
