An impromptu Russian reenactment of Louis Malle's 1958 film noir classic Elevator to the Gallows was thankfully interrupted by one extra's scene-stealing heroism.

With surveillance cameras rolling, a disoriented pug inexplicably exits an elevator moments after getting on, leaving its owner behind.

The woman attempts to rein her dog in, but the doors quickly close, leaving the two on opposites sides with dire peril just seconds away.

As the elevator began to move upwards in a hurry, our everyday hero bursts into action, quickly removing the leash before it transforms itself into a noose.

Fin.
