Donald Glover Bared His Soul on Instagram Last Night
In a series of handwritten notes inscribed on Marriott Residence Inn stationary with the slogan "ideas worth saving," Donald Glover, better known these days as Childish Gambino, opened up wide about a host of personal torments and tribulations, from his past struggles to his future fears.
The "confessionals," uploaded to his Instagram account last night, lay bare Glover's most intimate concerns: That he's "letting everyone down"; that people think "I hate my race" or "I hate women"; that "people will find out what I masturbate to."
Across seven shopping lists of soul-searching, Glover wrings out every last drop of introspection, until he's forced to start looking outward.
"I got really lost last year," he concludes. "But I can't be lonely tho. Cause we're all here. We're all stuck here."
Referring to his upcoming sophomore effort Because the Internet, Glover continues:
I wanted to make something that says, no matter how bad you fuck up, or mistakes you've made during the year, your life, your eternity. You're always allowed to be better. You're always allowed to grow up. If you want.
