Donald Trump Didn’t Expect Sarah Palin Would Speak for “Quite That Long”—Can We Trust His Judgment on Anything?
In a word—no.
Forget the stuff about the Mexicans and the Muslims and the cheering on 9/11. How could a man, who openly admits he failed to foresee the effects of giving Sarah Palin a microphone and a captive audience, lead our country? Was John McCain’s death completely in vain?
“I didn’t know it was going to be quite that long, but she made a beautiful, you know, she made a very good speech,” Trump said in a lengthy telephone interview with CNN’s Don Lemon on Wednesday night. “No, I wasn’t uncomfortable — I was very happy. I would have normally left the stage and let her speak ... I thought it would be disrespectful to her if I left the stage. So, no, I wasn’t uncomfortable at all.”
“A very good speech.” Uh, sure, maybe. But whatever it was, it was beautiful.
