Florida Man Goads Kids Into Fight, Joins in When His Son Starts Losing
It's all fun and games until someone pokes your kid's eye out.
51-year-old Carl Nicks of Brevard County faces charges of child abuse and contributing to the delinquency of a minor after the shirtless dad joined a Satellite Beach crowd encouraging two teens to fight, then jumped into the fight when one of the teens—Nicks' son—lost his advantage:
A cellphone video of the fight, first aired by Orlando's WKMG and picked up by the New Times, shows Nicks in a blue ballcap and little else, egging the teen boys on with the rest of the crowd. But once the fight starts, Nicks' son gets taken to the ground and beaten about the face.
That's when Nicks appears to pull his son's antagonist up by his t-shirt, then tosses him to the ground, grabs him by the throat, and punches him in rapid succession.
His intervention quickly transformed the mood. Members of the crowd could be heard on the video yelling "It's not your fight" before one of them—possibly Nicks' wife, according to WKMG—pulled the old man away, all while the family's golden retriever hopped excitedly into the fray.
