Former News Corp Editor Andy Coulson to Be Retried for Bribery
Andy Coulson, the former News of the World editor and aide to British Prime Minister David Cameron, will face retrial for bribery. Last week, Coulson was found guilty of conspiracy to intercept voicemail messages.
The jury last week did not reach a verdict on Coulson's bribery charge, which was part of a high-profile trial that also saw former News Corp executive and News of the World editor Rebekah Brooks accused of phone hacking. Brooks was found not guilty.
Prosecutors said today that they will retry Coulson and former News royal editor Clive Goodman, according the News Corp-owned Wall Street Journal. The charges stem from the pair's alleged bribery of authorities for a phone book containing contact information for the royal family.
