Four Wesleyan Students Arrested in Connection With Campus Molly Overdose
Middletown, Conn. police arrested four Wesleyan University students in connection to the apparently bad batch of MDMA—aka Molly—that put a dozen people in the hospital over the weekend.
Eric Lonergan, 21; Andrew Olson, 20; Zachary Kramer, 21; and Rama Agha Al Kakib, 20 were arrested by police Tuesday night, NBC Connecticut reports, after police searched "certain locations in and around the campus." Two people remain hospitalized at Hartford Hospital, the station reports.
Police suspect the Molly to have been laced with other chemicals.
"This particular batch may have had a mixture of several kinds of designer drug chemicals, making the health risks unpredictable and treatment to combat the effects complex and problematic," Middletown Police Chief William McKenna told the Washington Post.
Michael S. Roth, the president of Wesleyan, said in a university-wide email sent out Tuesday that the four students have been suspended pending a hearing. The students, the New York Times reports, face a litany of charges, including the illegal obtaining and supplying of drugs, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell.
This is the second time in less than six months the university has seen students overdose from Molly—a group of students were hospitalized this past September, the university reported.
