Guy Offers to Let Girl Keep His Stolen Phone In Exchange for a Date
It's a story as old as time: Boy has smartphone stolen from his pants; boy finds out thief never disabled the function that automatically sends all the photos taken with the smartphone to a shared Dropbox folder; boy discovers phone is now owned by a young Moroccan woman; boy offers to let young Moroccan woman keep the phone if she agrees to go on a date with him.
OK, so it's not the most conventional love story, but if it works, Niklaus Knecht might have the most amazing meet-cute story of all time.
While on a train to Zurich last April, the 24-year-old Swiss college student had his phone swiped through a hole in his pants as he slept.
Some time later, after he began seeing photos of an unknown lady start to regularly appear in his Dropbox, Knecht had something even more dear to him stolen: His heart.
"She obviously doesn't realize that all the pictures she is taking are ending up in my dropbox and it's a pretty good general view of an everyday life in Morocco," he is quoted as saying.
Knecht claims that he and a friend have created a Facebook page in the hopes of tracking the mystery girl down, but so far no luck.
If she turns down the date request, he says he'd at least like to know how she ended up with his phone.
"It would be great to meet her and of course she's welcome to keep the phone," he said. "I am just keen to find out a little bit more about how she got the phone and I think it would be an interesting project as part of my schoolwork."
