Hacked AP Twitter Account Tweets of 'Explosions in the White House'
A hacker briefly shook the world today by cracking into the Associated Press' official Twitter feed and sharing this. The account was swiftly suspended as AP employees sheepishly assured everyone it was a hack.
Update: The Syrian Electronic Army, which recently hacked both CBS and NPR, has claimed responsibility for the AP hack via Twitter:
Ops! @ap get owned by Syrian Electronic Army! #SEA #Syria #ByeByeObama twitter.com/Official_SEA6/…
— SyrianElectronicArmy (@Official_SEA6) April 23, 2013
Update: In the few minutes the tweet was live, the Dow Jones Industrial Average plummeted to 14,566 from to 14,697 almost instantly.
