Senate majority leader and cool guy Harry Reid wants his constituents to know that he's never tried it, but he's totally down with weed now.

"If you'd asked me this question a dozen years ago, it would have been easy to answer – I would have said no, because (marijuana) leads to other stuff," Reid told the Las Vegas Sun. "But I can't say that anymore."

Reid's comments about legalizing medical marijuana in Nevada make him one of the highest ranking American officials to come out in favor of the drug.

Reid demurred from commenting on Colorado and Washington recently legalizing the recreational use of marijuana, but he did say that he thinks the current legal system is flawed.

"I guarantee you one thing," Reid told the Sun. "We waste a lot of time and law enforcement going after these guys that are smoking marijuana."
