While preparing to perform a series of reunion shows with OutKast, rapper and artist André Benjamin (aka André 3000) had been filming the forthcoming Jimi: All Is by My Side film, a biopic of the late, great guitar player Jimi Hendrix.

The first trailer shows Benjamin's spot-on likeness to the deceased musician, but unfortunately doesn't feature any of Hendrix's actual music. Hendrix's estate had refused to allow any of his actual recordings to be used in the movie, saying it was opposed to any biopics "undertaken without its full participation."

The film was directed and written by 12 Years A Slave writer John Ridley.
