It's always funny how the most important issues are always the most "measured." Merkel's government is making sure Europe goes back to the dark ages, yet nobody attacks or even brings it up.

I heard a very strong argument from a German poli-sci lecturer years ago about how Germany lost the means to carry out military dominance, would restructure that energy into economic dominance of Europe. It has seems to be the perfect vehicle for German dominance of Europe.

Well , if you're broke and I give you some of my money to help you I expect you to start saving money so you can pay me back later.
Is the German economy that great, for all classes? Compared to Spain, England and Greece yes, but is that enough? What happens if/when the poorer countries collapse and the Euro disintegrates? It seems there was a small movement away from austerity in Germany, but I'm a little surprised how little debate there seems to have been. The policy seems to be permanent-debtor second-class status for the Southern European countries - if any country might be sensitive to that, you'd think it would be Germany.
I think that's it, make sure that there is a 2nd class Euro zone that you give enough money to, to keep them in the EEA, but not enough to climb out of their debt and actually compete against Germany economically. Also, I'm sure those that are bailed out are often "reminded" if the assistance they were given during votes.

If you think this is boring, I bet you can't wait for the UK election next year. One party for the rich, one party for the poor, one party for people who don't like the other two parties but there will be a coalition so it wouldn't matter.

That sounds positively exciting compared the the USA's two party duopoly.
Labour are much more interesting than that. You have the progressive wing which wants to reconcile social justice with economic growth and competition which was dave and then you have the old Labour wing which is Ed. Ed is fucking terrible so it will be interesting to see what happens.
Might as well just say all three are equally shit. It's like 3 bottles of poison, each in different packaging marketed to different people, you choose your favourite and drink it, yes, there is a difference, but it's still fucking poison.
