A Judge Might Decide If Bill Cosby Lied About Raping Janice Dickinson
Janice Dickinson’s rape claim against Bill Cosby falls well outside the statute of limitations, but she may have a civil case that could get some allegations against the disgraced comedian firmly on the record.
On Wednesday, Dickinson filed a defamation suit against Cosby, who denied allegations that he drugged and raped her in his Lake Tahoe hotel room in 1982. Via the Daily News:
The ex-supermodel, 60, filed her lawsuit in Los Angeles County Superior Court Wednesday claiming Cosby drugged and raped her in 1982 and then ravaged her reputation last November when his camp denied the allegation and branded her a liar.
Her complaint is based on sworn statements from [Dickinson’s book editor] Judith Regan and ghostwriter Pablo Fenjves that confirm Dickinson “argued vehemently” but ultimately failed to have the alleged rape included in her 2002 autobiography, lawyer Lisa Bloom said.
At the time, Cosby’s attorney—Hollywood fixer Marty Singer—told reporters, “Janice Dickinson’s story accusing Bill Cosby of rape is a lie.”
Now, it seems, a judge will decide—and not just about Dickinson. At least three other women have reportedly filed similar defamation suits in Massachusetts federal court.
