Joan Rivers' Daughter May File Multimillion-Dollar Wrongful Death Suit
A partner at Gair, Gair, Conason, Steigman, Mackauf, Bloom and Rubinowitz confirmed this morning that Joan Rivers's daughter Melissa hired the firm to investigate Joan's death. Page Six reports that Melissa plans to file a multimillion-dollar wrongful death lawsuit.
While there was no criminal probe into the comedy legend's death—the official cause was lack of oxygen, a "therapeutic complication" of throat surgery—questions remain about whether or not the clinic that treated Joan was negligent. Melissa's attorney, Ben Rubinowitz, tells the BBC:
In order to fully determine the facts and circumstances surrounding the death of Joan Rivers, we confirm that our firm has been engaged by Melissa Rivers and her family.
A lawyer not involved in the case told Page Six Melissa is likely to accuse the Yorkville Endoscopy Clinic in New York of not properly monitoring her mother's Propofol intake.
