Ohio Governor John Kasich, who has been running for the Republican nomination for president for seven months, decided last night that he would like to be president, after all. At a town hall on Tuesday, he told voters, “I don’t know if my purpose is to be president,” but in an interview with Fox News’ Megyn Kelly last night, he corrected himself.

“Megyn, look. Here’s the thing: My purpose is to be President. That’s why I put one foot in front of the other,” he said. Talking Points Memo has video of the segment:

Kasich has so far failed to win any primaries, and he is currently resting comfortably at the back of the Trump-led Republican pack. But hey, we all need a reason to get up in the morning. For Kasich, that’s imagining being president.
