Malaysia Airlines Deleted Teddy Bear Tweet After Plane Went Down
As Malaysia Airlines learned the fate of one of its passenger jets, which was reportedly shot down over Ukraine, killing nearly 300 people, a tweet it had posted 12 hours before was suddenly recast in an unfortunate new light. For a short time Thursday, news about the plane bumped up against a photo of an adorable teddy bear.
The airline has now deleted the photo of mascot Pilot Parker and linked to a media statement about the disaster. The official line offers few details, and doesn't address reports of a missile attack. It merely states that the plane, headed from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur, dropped out of contact 50 kilometers from the Russia-Ukraine border.
