Man Fatally Struck by Rollercoaster While Searching for Lost Phone
At around 5 p.m., a ride at Ohio’s Cedar Point amusement park struck and killed a guest who had entered “a restricted, fenced area” to look for a lost cellphone, a park spokesperson said on Thursday.
“Park safety officials responded immediately to the situation. Unfortunately the guest has passed away,” said Cedar Point in a statement. “Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family at this time.”
The Associated Press reports that a county coroner confirmed the man, said to be in his mid-40s, was killed by the park’s Raptor rollercoaster while in a restricted area Thursday evening.
According to Cedar Point’s website, the ride reaches speeds of 57 mph.
