American women are "opting for surgery to get Michelle Obama's arms," the Los Angeles Times tells us. (Though, obviously, not literally; there are not thousands of women seeking surgery to obtain the First Lady's arms, of which there are after all only two.) The number of women seeking cosmetic "upper arm-lift" procedures has increased by 4,378 percent since 2000, due—many speculate—to Ms. Obama's bodacious arms:

The number of procedures was up 4,378% since 2000, when only about 300 women opted for it, the group reported.
In a statement, the ASPS said that doctors didn't point to a single reason for the increase, but took note of poll data indicating that women "are paying closer attention to the arms of female celebrities" including Jennifer Aniston, Demi Moore and Kelly Ripa. The most-admired arms of all? Those of First Lady Michelle Obama.

Would you call this, ha, ha... an arms race? I mean, possibly, yes.

Hamilton Nolan will be angry at me for saying this, as he spends his time working larger muscle groups but... you don't need surgery to tone your arms. The biceps and triceps respond very quickly to resistance and weight exercises. Any surgeon is ripping you off.

I do literally 150 pushups a day, somewhere around 50 - 75 pullups throughout each day as I pass through my main hallway and I can't believe how buff I am. I don't lift any weight and I can bench a full 125% of my body weight.

Seriously people just... get off your ass and do something instead of resorting to this dumb shit.

Meanwhile, I can't get past 25 without being stopped by boredom. Of course, I've solved that problem with foot elevation. I can do 15-20 pushups (I don't place my hands consistently) with my feet on a chair that comes up to the bottom of my knee.
