The 15-year-old son of Australian musician and writer Nick Cave died Tuesday night after apparently falling from the cliffs at Ovingdean Gap in Sussex, England.

The Argus reports that Arthur Cave was found at the bottom of the cliff at about 6 p.m. Tuesday and rushed to Royal Sussex County Hospital, where he died from his injuries.

Nick Cave, his wife, and their son Earl, who was Arthur’s twin, visited the cliffs Wednesday afternoon to view the flowers left in tribute. They refused to speak to reporters but issued a statement through Sussex police confirming the death.

“Our son Arthur died on Tuesday evening,” the statement reads. “He was our beautiful, happy loving boy. We ask that we be given the privacy our family needs to grieve at this difficult time.”

The death is not being treated as suspicious.
